  1. Hi All,

    First-time poster so go easy

I'm having trouble with what file size i should be aiming for when re-encoding an MPEG in TMPGEnc Plus.

It gives me lots of variables with regards to bitrate bit I looked in the preferences of DVD Shrink and one of the options was to fit/shrink the file onto a 'DVD-r 1.0 (3.95)Gb (roughtly 3,7000Mb).

Is this the file size I should be aiming for as I've had a few DVD's burnt over this figure and they jump at the end. Also my standalone player (Philips 710) needs to have the file size *over* 4Gb - it says over but a 3.94Gb DVD plays fine...

What file sizes does everyone set in TMPGEnc so you have 100% sucess rate???

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    3.95 is for Authoring DVD's, 4.3 GB is for DVDR's .

Never heard of a plyer requiring more than 4 GB for a DVD, smells like BS, no offense.

  3. Well, I've just tried a 3.69 Gb DVD-R and it didn't play. Also read a couple of reviews of the machine and they also said it had a problem with DVD's lower than 4Gb in size.

I will try the 3.95Gb encode first in TMPGEnc.

Is there any special trick you can use to ensure the DVD plays all the way to the end without it starting to skip?
