I am using TMPGEnc to convert DV AVIs to DVD (720x480, 6000 CBR). I am having trouble in that when an encode gets to 100%, the program just quits and disappears. It seems the resultant MP2 file is fine, but with the program behaving this way, I cannot do batch encodes - which I really need to do. has anyone else had this trouble, and if so, how did you solve it?
I am running WinXP Pro SP1a, 512 MB DDR RAM, 80 and 120 GB HDDs, AMD Athlon 1700+ CPU.
TIA!

Where did you find TMPGEnc 2.58.44.152 ? The latest version on the web site is 2.521.58.169.

I have the same problem here. I didn't have that problem before. I'm converting from DV-AVI to mpeg and it quits with no error. The files look fine, but Im' worried I'm not getting a good file.
I also noticed that WMP 9 (running XP here) crashes when you open a file very fast, like, open one file, wait 2 seconds, open another one, wait, open another, wait open. You should open one avi, then a mpeg, then an avi. I get a ntdll.dll error.
I don't know if a hotfix is causing this problem. There are a few hot fixes, I don't know if that is related:
+Flaw In Windows Media Player May Allow Media Library Access
I think it's related to XP. I have the latest version and older version and both crash. If you encode with another coded, it seems to work fine (I tried a small file using indeo codec). -
I may be having a similar problem. I just went from the trial to paid version with latest upgrade. As soon as I finish encoding, the program exits.
When I try 2 pass, it does the first pass then exits with an error message that I sent off to MS. -
+What operating system are you guys using?
+ Did you do the windows updates?
I'm doing some divx conversion and I have no problem whatsoever, only when using DV avi's. Are you still having the problem? -
There is a response I received from TMPGEnc that it was really made to work with AVI type II files. It will usualy work with type 1.
I converted to type II and the 2 pass worked fine but I found CQ to give better quality with the same file size than 2 pass. It appears type II runs faster.
I am still fine tuning my Video parameters like BR, quality, VBV as well as GOP. I find to really see the results well I have to look at a decent length. I am now using a 40 minute video and running overnight.
The program still closes down when done unless batch mode is used and there is an extra box to check to have it close when done or not.
