hey everybody. ive been having lots of problems with the vcd header trick. ive used the search funtion in this website that tells which DVD player can play which kind of media (vcd, svcd, divx, etc.) my DVD player CAN play VCDs but not SVCDs. i have a Panasonic DVD-RP56. i read on this website that my player CAN play SVCDs with the header trick. so i performed the vcd header trick and when i played it on my dvd player, different movies would have different problems. for example, i burned Once Upon a Time in China 3 CD2 and when it played back, the screen was green and blocky and it had no sound for the first 5 minutes. i also tried another movie and when it played back, it played REALLY slowly. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks a lot people.
btw, im using Maxell brand 700MB 80 minute CDs so i dont think the CD is the problem.

If these are SVCD's encoded by someone other than yourself then it is probably not worth the effort, you never know if they are fully SVCD compliant in the firts place. Either re-encode to VCD (which you can play) or spend the cash and buy a DVD burner.

Audio always got out of synch with video when I tried this trick.
I ended up buying an $80 DVD player (Philipps 726) that plays everything you could throw at it.
