  1. I just got a Sony CD-RW CRX225E. I tried using CDRWin to burn an audio CD with it, but I get the following error:

Error: 'WRITE' command failed on device 1:0:0
    Illegal command request (04h 00h 02h 05h 20h 00h)

Occasionally, it would tell me that no compatible recording devices were found. I updated my firmware for the drive to QYB2, but I still get the above error.

    Any advice?

  2. I have an older Sony CD-RW (12x max) and the software that came with is called Sony CD Extreme. Maybe you need to use Sony spicific software?

Check their website for Sony CD Extreme would be my suggestion.

Actually..., now that I think about it I believe that I was able to get VCDeasy to write to it so I don't know. Sorry if this is no help.

  3. You won't need Sony specific software, but the writing application does need to know about the drive - check with the CDRWin web page and see if there are any updates available. Your version may not be aware of such a recent drive.

  4. I've got exactly the same CD-RW, and it works fine with Nero (5.5)

I suspect it is exactly as garryheather says.

  5. I am using the very latest version of CDRWin. On Goldenhawk's site, it says this drive is compatible. It's driving me crazy! I wouldn't mind if I liked Nero, but I've never had luck with it.

I will try to uninstall CDRWin and then reinstall it. In the meantime, any other suggestions?
