I want to know, what the average kbit/sec on most dvds? I'm trying to make better qualtiy movies for myself.

Up to 9.8Mbit/s (not sure about the actually industry aveage). 6000kbit/s shows up a lot.

I usually see an average of 4 to 5 mega bits per sec, sometimes as low as 3.5 on long movies. Peak rates of course can go up to 8 for video with multiple angles and up to 9.8 without multiple angles.
