    i just ripped the italian job with dvd shrink ver. 1.03 i did a simulation write and it completed in 15 min using 4x lead data media i got from fryes the problem is that when i actually burn it takes twice as long i am burning using nero 5.5.10.20 and i have the sony dru 500ax with firmware 2.0c would anyone be able to help me with this also the media does show as 4x in neroand it is dvd-r thanx in advance

    Probably ritek or datawrite as i along with a lot of others have this same problems with the sony burners
    I have a dru500ax also tried 2.0c, 2.0f, 2.0g latest but no fix for me anyway
    do a search as there are lots of people with these problems on this site and others.

    i get the same problem burning 4x mirror dvd+r using nero 5.5.10.42, it doesnt let me select any higher burning speed on my nec 1100a so it always burns at 2.4 instead of 4x. but that could be a good thing, i mean the faster you burna disc the more chance it has to make errors leaving you with a coaster, right?

  6. A few things worth checking if you cant burn at 4 X

    Firstly and most important, make sure you are using good media (Ritek G04's are good).

    Make sure your Burner is the Master drive (normally on the Secondary IDE Channel).

    Ensure that DMA is enabled on your IDE channels.

    IMHO firmware upgrades should be a last resort.
