  1. I have a video in MPEG-1 format that I wish to burn to SVCD, except there's a small problem: the source video has a timestamp embedded into the video under the actual movie content, which is a bit annoying.

Would there be anyway to edit this out at all? For instance, is there a program that can crop and shrink a movie to a specific size (ie. NTFS SVCD resolution) so that way the timestamp is removed and the movie fits into a proper aspect ratio?

    Example:

Any leads would be most apprecated.

So it pisses you off that your illegal downloaded movie (which is FREE by the way) has a timestamp on it.

    Oh well.

I do not know if it is illegal or not. If it is not, you can crop it out (TMPGEnc, Virtual Dub, and Video Studio 7, e.g.). Or you can paste a black line over it (VS 7 or Virtual Dub's Logo filter, e.g.).
    Hello.

If the illegal movies are MPEG1 , the MPAA has nothing to worry about.

For the most part the only video you are gonna get with a time stamp on it is something you probably shouldn't have.

I'm just trying to stick to our NO WAREZ policy here in order to protect this website which I like to use and would like to continue to use.

For your information (which it is not!), the film in question was taken from a collection of home movies that I have recorded onto my computer using my college's AV club euipment, but the camcorder/AV equipment in question included a timestamp at the bottom.

If this is the kind of responses I can look forward to from this forum's members, I'd like to know how you manage to keep anyone posting here at all...

My thanks to those who responded to me nicely.

  9. Listen "Kill Bill" wasn't that good, and I for one think its okay to download Vol.1 so that you only have to pay for Vol.2...Listen, take your Kill Bill .mpg file and re-encode with TMPGENC using the clip frame option in the project wizard. I don't know how necessary it is as it only appears in the beginning.

  10. 1) I don't even like Tarantino movies.
    2) I don't own any file-sharing programs.
    3) I'm on dial-up.
    4) Are all the ignorant-hick members on this forum drawn to my first post by accident?

I don't have to take this. I thought I could go to this forum for helpful advice, but I appear to be mistaken. I think I'll leave now, but not before informing this forum's staff members about my brief visit here.

And if Dave, the student in my ACST10A class is watching this, thank you for recommending this forum anyways. See you in class on Tuesday - remember your second report disk!

Everyone in this thread needs to calm down. Stop assuming the worst about people. If you link to warez or discuss them you get warned. But nothing in this thread tells me we are talking about warez. Stop assuming the worst about people.

I have some 1970s footage with timestamps. It's not uncommon back then. It's legal too. VHS.

In addition to what was already mentioned, such as TMPGEnc, you can use the cookie cutter or pan & crop in Vegas 4.0 - which also has a timestamper filter if you ever wanna add timestamps to your legal projects to make them look illegal

I use them sometimes for the fun of it
My old VHS camcorder also has that feature - didn't even think of it as being a legal issue.
