I have checked around for vcd to dvd and cannot seem to find anyone
mentioning problems with adding an mpeg1 ntsc film at 23.9 fps to
tmpgenc dvd auther.
Nearly all of my vcd backups are in this format, as the original dvd was
in 23.976 fps.
I understand that the audio needs to be re-encoded at 48khz with
tmpgenc before, or can be converted by dvd auther when it is added,
this is not a problem.
When i try to add the mpeg, it is rejected because of this none compliant dvd frame rate.
I am using the trial version of dvd auther, don't know if this makes any difference, and it is the latest issue, as downloaded a couple of days ago.
The specs for dvd auther do not mention a restriction on input streams relating in anyway to frame rate.
Has anyone else experienced this, or am i just doing something wrong?
This is the first time i have tried to put my vcd's onto dvd, i do not want
to re-encode them, and certainly do not want to start converting frame rates.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

23,976 fps MPEG1 is NOT DVD standard, www.dvdrhelp.com/dvd#tech
You must reconvert to 23,976 MPEG2 (with 3:2 pulldown).
Or you could make a non-standard dvd, use for example dvd patcher and change the mpeg headers to 25 fps and you can import and author in tmpgenc dvd author, and after authored changed back the vobs to 23,976 fps. -
I was reading Chupes guide "putting a compliant mpg1 on dvdr",
its seems to indicate that no re-encoding to mpg2 is neccessary, only
conversion of the audio.
I do not wish to make a compliant dvd, i want to put my vcd's, maybe 3
or 4 kids movies on one dvdr.
There seems to be several guides that show how to do this, without
re-encoding to mpg2.
So, to summarise, is it, or is it not possible to auther vcd mpg1 video
onto a dvdr without converting the video. The one eyed man is king in the land of the blind. -
It is only possible for 25 fps and 29,97 fps VCDs. Not 23,976 fps VCDs.
