  1. This may be obvious, but I recently purchased a Vaio desktop with analog video and audio capture capabilities. The PC came with 'Click to DVD' software.

What I want to do is capture it to the hard drive then edit it, and then burn a DVD.

Is there better capture software than what came with the pc?

I plan on using Screenblast MS 3.0 to edit.

    Thanks

  3. It came with its own hardware integrated into the PC.
As far as software, again it is Sony specific: something called Gigapocket - allows one to record from on board TV or external analog or digital source. In addition it has another application called click to dvd, where you can automatically capture and burn a dvd, or capture and store on the hard drive.

    thanks

  4. I also have a Sony VIAO, but it does not have any analog capture ability. It does have IEEE1394 ( called Firewire on Apple computers ) which Sony calls i.Link. IEEE1394 allows you to connect the output from your DV camcorder to the VIAO. The Click to DVD software can control the DV camcorder and record to your hard drive then burn to DVD.

  6. GigaPocket hardware and software is an option on some Sony VIAO's decribed below. It may be standard on some higher end or preconfigured models

"Get ready to enjoy your favorite TV programs right on your computer!
By converting TV signals to digital MPEG2 format, Sony’s Giga Pocket™ hardware and software lets you watch and record TV programs right on your VAIO®.Using the Internet, you can set the timer to record shows and play them back on your own TV at home using the VAIO Media™ application."
