Hi,

I have recently started creating SVCDs again using VCDEasy after a summer off and find that they cannot be played on my PC using PowerDVD 5.

In the Spring I created numerous SVCDs using versions 1.1.4 and 1.1.5 of VCDEasy, all of which played on my standalone DVD player and on my PC using PowerDVD 4XP. I have since upgraded VCDEasy to 1.1.6 and PowerDVD to version 5, and now I find I cannot play newly created (1.1.6) SVCDs back on my PC (they still play fine on my standalone). PowerDVD simply does not recognise the disc, yet it has no problem with the older SVCDs created with earlier versions of VCDEasy.

The plot thickens: it's not just burnt SVCDs PowerDVD seems to have problems with. It cannot cope with VCDEasy 1.1.6 created SVCD BIN/CUE images mounted with Virtual Daemon either, yet once again it has no problems with VCDEasy 1.1.4 BIN/CUE images. Finally, the 1.1.6 SVCDs play fine on my office PCs running WinDVD 3 and 4.

So clearly there is a compatibility issue with VCDEasy 1.1.6 and PowerDVD 5. Any ideas on what could be causing the problem? What should I try?

Steve
