I created a DVD with the Panaisonic DMR EX 485v, finalized it, and it plays back fine on my stand alone dvd players in my home. When I put it into my computer, the computer thinks it is a blank disc and doesn't see any of the information. What is going on?

Sounds like the brand of disc, that or the "+" or "-". If it's an RW try blaming that first.

It's highly unusual for even bad media to not play in a computer. I'd suggest that either the disc is not really finalized (DVD recorders may play some discs that aren't finalized and PCs won't be able to) or your PC DVD drive is going bad. It happens. The drives don't last forever. Try using other people's computers. If you try 2 or 3 different ones and none of them can see the disc, it's probably an issue with it not really being finalized.
