  1. alright, i just got a burner and i'd like to burn svcd movies to cd so i can play them on my dvd player.

i have a few movies that i've downloaded which are already in svcd format.

i've tried burning an svcd (no chapters, etc., just the mpeg file) and playing on my dvd player, but it didn't work.

do i have to burn the file into the bin/cue format or something?

also, i've heard my dvd player can't handle video bitrates higher than a certain value, so could that be the reason why my dvd player isn't playing the svcd?

if so, how do i remake the file such that the video bitrate is lower?

i have a pioneer dv-440, which isn't exactly ideal for svcd playback, but i've heard quite a number of success stories.

  2. First of all check that your player can support SVCD . Read the manuel. If not , burn to DVD afterall you have a dvdwriter.

For a start read the guide here.

Check for compatibility section on the left side of this site first to see if your dvd player is capable of playing svcd's(make sure you look for cd-r or rw not svcd because that stand for factory compressed). If so, then convert w/ tmpgenc and use the svcd template in nero to burn. If not, then just try to burn vcd.
