I am not talking about downloads.
Couple of my DivX encodes are corrupted and cannot be seen in virtualdub after loading. File info says Panasonic DV codec!! I do not have Panasonic DV codec on my PC!! They play perfectly in DivX player not in media player.
Anyone else with similar experience?

I have noticed this on a couple of movies as well.
They also reported they needed Panasonic DV codec - what makes it worse is I have that codec and they fail to render on screen properly
I never worried about it as I wasn't playing them
Just loading them into virtualDub on the way to converting to MPEG
You can specify the FourCC header when loading into VirtualDub and force it at DIV4,DIVx or whatever gspot thinks it is.
You could then save the file out as a direct stream copy from VirtualDub avoiding re-encoding.
Might work.
Try it and see -
Thanx for the suggestion will try it out.
Still puzzled. Doesn't happen with other codecs. -
There is an app called AVI FourCC Code Changer which might be of some help - it does exactly what it says on the tin.
cheers,
mcdruid.
