I have a Sony DRU-500a with firmware 2.0f. I bought a spindle of 15 TDK 2x DVD-Rs from CompUSA for $35. The first one I burned, a backup of LOTR Two Towers created by IC, I forced Nero to burn at 2x. It wanted to burn it at 4x. The second one, captured, edited and authored video, I again used Nero but forget to limit burning speed. Nero burned it at 4x. This disc seems to play fine. I also did verification, which passed, in Nero. This is unreal ... 15-minutes to burn a full DVD. Has anyone else experince this with this media. By the way the media code from DVDInfoPro was RITEKG.

My most recent TDK media purchase was from the last Best Buy sale, 25 pack for $30 I think it was...and its got the same media ID as the ones I picked up months back, not Ritek's. Cool to hear these discs burn at 4X for you...how was playback? Any problems after the 4GB or so mark?

None so far. I'll keep putting them through the test. In the same order I also purchased some TDK 2x DVD-RWs. These burn at 2x and seem to play well near the end (i.e., past the 4-GB point).
