hey, i'm new to the dvd formats and was wondering if i can format a dvd-rw as i would a cd-rw to make it work like a floppy where i can just record data on it or take it off?

If you are talking data, probably. Depends on your DVD burner and your software. If you are talking DVD video, no I don't believe so. A data DVD is a completly different format than a video DVD that you can play on a set top player.

aaa, thanks for the information. i'll have to test it out then. 4.3 gigs of removeable storage is sounding real nice.
