  1. hey, i'm new to the dvd formats and was wondering if i can format a dvd-rw as i would a cd-rw to make it work like a floppy where i can just record data on it or take it off?

    If you are talking data, probably. Depends on your DVD burner and your software. If you are talking DVD video, no I don't believe so. A data DVD is a completly different format than a video DVD that you can play on a set top player.

    I use Nero to do just that to my DVD-RWs. I hope they start coming out with the 8GB disks I heard about. I may just start storing raw video on those puppies
