    Since VideoStudio 7 comes with an mpeg2 codec, would there be any point to purchasing the TMPGencoder plus? Would there be an video quality differences between the two?

    Actually I sometimes use both in the same operations. TMPGEnc cannot do transitions, and VS 7 cannot do most of the advance procedures in TMPGEnc Plus. So I frameserve from VS 7 to TMPGEnc with the Ulead Video Server (trial ware). So, my short answer is yes, you can still use both effectively.
