i have a vcd, which i got from somebody else. thing is, i want to put it onto a dvd along with two other vcds. the vcd i am trying to extract the mpeg from seems to be overburnt. i used iso buster and i got read errors, so i clicked on ignore errors. it got to the end of the extraction process and then an error message come up. it asked if i wanted to delete the file id made because there had been errors during extraction. i selectedno and then thought it was ok. it wasnt.....i went to the file i have just extracted and found it had 0 bytes of data. next i tried vcd gear to try and extract the mpeg again, it got to about 80% then my computer locked.
can anybody suggest to me or tell me a way to extract the mpeg from an overburnt vcd?

  2. If Isobuster cannot extract the mpeg file then the problem may not be that it is an overburn, the problem may be the disc is damaged or the data is corrupt. Isobuster should be able to extract the data from a normal overburn. If the disc is damaged or the data corrupt there is not much you can do.

DVD diagnostic (by Arrowhead, but recently bought by 321 studios) is another CD/DVD info recovery tool. But I do not know if this program can handle mode 2 form 2 data (which is what a VCD is recorded in).

(You did set isobuster to extract M2F2 frames only, correct?)

  3. Another thing to try - drag-n-drop the dat file to your hard drive, and remuliplex the file as an mpg in TMPGenc. Works for me. If you can't copy the dat file then either you file or disk is damaged.
