I'm kinda new to the dvd stuff... so i wanted to know if this was possible..
i got a DVDr and stuff, complete with menu and subs.
Only i want to add/replace a sub with my language sub..
Any option?.. i tried with DVDMaestro but i cant manage to redo the menu to make it look good.
So no program/method to just replace the .sup file or edit a few things so the subtitle is added?
Thnx For The Help in Advance![]()

Your message is a little confusing. I think what you're saying is you have a DVDR disc that contains subtitles. However, you would like to replace or add an addition subtitle track to the disc.
This can be done. You have to re-author the disc thou. Depending on your software, DVD file structure and how complex you want to make it this can be fairly easy or require a lot of steps.
First, there are only a handful of programs that can author DVDs with subtitles: DVD Maestro, Scenarist, Reel DVD, Abode Encore and IFOEdit. IFOEdit is the only freeware tool on the list.
DVD video discs use a file structure, not a file format. So you can't just cut and paste pieces of them like normal video clips. I'm confused about if you were able to re-author we the new sub stream or not. It sounds like you re-authored ok, but want to the menu to show the new stream. That's not easy, you have to either generate a new menu, or replace the original subs (re-assign them to the old language) and live with the fact that the menu shows the wrong language/sub stream.
Or just manuall cycle through the subs with your remote.
Do you already have the new subtitles read? If so what format are they in? Normally what people do is:
1) Re-author VTS with new subtitle
2) Replace old VTS with newly auhthored one, run IFOUpdate to fix IFO files
3) Burn -
thnx for helping
your are right.. i got a dvdr and just want to add another subtitle or replace one..
i dont matter that the menu doesnt give the right language but i would like to keep the menu.
So is it possible, just extract/decrypt dvdr to harddisk. Replace .sup on some way and reauthor ?
any tools u suggest for me.. i have DVD Maestro but its really hard to get the menu's over in that way...
[edit] I Have the Subs in .SRT format but can convert to .SON / .SUP and others [/EDIT]
