  1. Hi there
For a while I used Nero5 and burnt VCDs with my internal CD burner without problem. Then I wanted to make the jump to DVD burning so I bought an external DVD-burner (Archos with an LG GMA 4020B inside connected via USB2) along with Nero6.
It burns audio CDs nicely, but when it comes to VCDs or DVDs it does not work anymore, it does not even manage data DVDs it seems. Example: I have made a backup with about 3GB of data, Nero tells me the DVD was burnt successfully, but when I check it in the Explorer the data is not there. A right click on the drive shows a capacity of 2GB, fully used, even though I used a 4.7GB DVD (FAT32 is in place on the harddrive).
So I guess something must be on the DVD, because the disc info in Nero shows exactly the amount of data on the dics. Then I tried to burn with less then 2GB of data with the same result.
I have tried a few things, among others I have update Nero6 to the last available version, which was a mistake apparently: Now the machine crashes when I try to burn and it won't even write to my internal cd burner. So I uninstalled Nero6 and reinstalled Nero5 again. Nero5 does not see the dvd-burner (maybe because it's a bulk version without dvd-burning facility). But at least it burns CDs (VCD, data, audio) everytime perfectly without fail. Could it be a resource issue? I have a AMD Athlon 700, Windows 98 and quite a few programmes running.
I know it's a long story, but this is my last attempt before I bin the dvd burner and Nero6 with it.
    Thanks for any help...
    Greg

  2. Start off with win98 ditch that. fat32 yep, ditch that. Fat32 has a problem with any file over 2gb in size.
However is nero6 meant to work with fat32 and/or win98?
Research problems with fat32/ 2gb file size. winme or winxp can both use ntfs filesystem no problem with large files (up to about 120gb). email ahead nero .

  3. Hi there
Actually I burnt a DVD of 1.9 GB (at least that's what Nero tells me) and that one I also cannot see in the Explorer.
