  1. I've been looking at this forum for a good month and trying the different things that I found, but so far nothing has worked very well. I believe I'm just missing some small step or setting. Here's what I want to do and the equiptment I have to use:

I want to convert my VHS movie collection to DVD. I have a VCR connected via RCA cables to my Sony camcorder, then connected via Firewire to my 17" iMac G4 800. I use iMovie 3.0.3 to record the entire movie and do any editing. I export from iMovie to Full Quality DV. I want to use CaptyDVD 1.1.7 to design Menus for the Movie, but CaptyDVD won't accept the DV movie. I've tried using the iMovie project in CaptyDVD, this worked, but the DVD had sync issues after about ten minutes. I have downloaded ffmpegX to convert the DV to MPEG2. I've tried the Quick Preference settings with minor tweaks, but CaptyDVD won't accept the MPEG2 file, no matter what setting I use to create the project. I've tried writing VIDEO_TS folder in Toast 6, but the video gets really jumpy in action scenes.

Please if someone can give me a detailed step by step on how I can get this to work, I would be greatly appreciative. My movie that I'm testing process with, is 107 min long, but other movies will be longer, so if this could be taken into account, that would be helpful too.

    Thanks for any help,
    Troy

I am not sure where you obtained CaptyDVD, but it only inputs MPEG-1 or 2 files, not DV.

    Have you tried iDVD?

  3. Sorry, let me clarify. I imported the iMovie project into CaptyDVD, it allows this.

I have iDVD, but it is worthless for movies over 90 minutes long, reguardless of the quality settings.

I have found MPEG2 Works on the Macshareware site. Has anyone used this? Does it work well, or better than ffmpegX?
