I have just recently brought a Primera Pro Dual DVD burner this runs with a robotic arm and comes bundled with a crappy Prassi primo burning program. Does anyone know if there is another piece DVD burning software that I can invest in which handles robotic arms?
I hope this is the correct forum any help is appreciated...

Not sure, but I bet you are looking at some big bucks for the software. There are a couple people who will be able to give you a real answer.

  4. Excuse my ignorance, but pray what is a robotic arm when related to DVD burners?

The arm is for mass duplication. The machine has an area to stack blank media, then the arm grabs the media and places it in the burner. After burning is finished the arm grabs the disk and moves it to the next staion (likely a printer), then puts a new blank into the recorder. After burning, or printing the arm will stack the finished disks at the output tray. Very nice if you need to produce anything above 10 disks a day all of the same thing (I think the same thing, maybe different things too). No user intervention is needed, so no time wasted away from other duties, like editing the next thing, etc.

    Here is a picture:

You can see the blanks on the right, then burning in the lower right and printing in the middle, and the finished output on the left.

Yes, it would be neat, but do you really burn that many copies of the same thing? Or do you really burn that many disks each day? Printers are cheap, espcially if you can use a few hand tools, and have a Walmart somewhere close to you. Check the links in my signature. Being able to cue a bunch of different burns would be nice, but even then, if you are doing this for a hobby, how many disks are you doing? By the time you finish creating the artwork, your burn should be done, then start the next burn and so on.

  9. Many thanks for elucidating, and very interesting too. I can see how such a setup could be useful under the right circumstances. Not that I can see me ever having reason to get one.

For most people printing onto disks is a luxury, one that I tried to make more common place by using cheap new or used printers.
