Hi All
This is odd. My movies, be they burnt to -r or -rw, are just fine until the either the player or disc gets warm (usually manage 30 mins or so). I think it is the disk as more often than not the problem continues when I put the disc in another player (have two at my disposal hooked up to the TV) even though the second player is cold.
The discs are not great, the -r's are bulkpaq orange and the -rw's are memorex, neither cost a great deal so I wonder if quality of media is to blame.
Despite recognising it may be, I am loathe to spend out on high quality media to suffer the same problem.
Has anyone else experienced this particular issue. It's driving me up the wall, I have to watch everything in 2 or 3 sittings over a few days to get to the end of a film!
Many thanks for any advice.

Have you tried chilling the disks in the refeigerator before viewing as test to see if that extends your viewing length of time. If so that would seem to implicate the media itself.
And no I've never experienced what you are, but I use brand name media.... Mostly Verbatim, Memorex, TDK +Rs
Not to get into _R vs. +R wars.
IMHO
It appears to me in my use patterns that for the same price the +R media is either faster for the same price or cheaper to buy (More sales) of 4X in local stores. The few cents I can save on -R isn't worth it for me due to the longer burn time. Lead out seems quicker too.
Yes, I can use either but if it works don't fix it.
YMMV

Also using Bulkpaq orange discs, and for a while they seemed ok. But am experiencing similar problems as you describe on a Panasonic E50. They copy ok back onto a PC, and i can 'restart' the movie. But i suspect the media, and i think they are deteriorating !

Best minimal investment you can make is at least one high quality RW disc. It will help you save loads of time & money in future and at least confirm if it is a "cheap media" problem you're experiencing. There's no place like 127.0.0.1
The Rogue Pixel: Pixels are like elephants. Every once in a while one of them will go nuts.
