I'm using Smart Ripper & while I haven't had much luck buring a VCD I get this message "NO KEYS FOUND TO THIS ENCRYPTED FILE" when ripping my DVD of copy Space 1999. I ripped a Chrlie Brown DVD without getting this error message. But after doing all the steps listed in the "Sefys newbie start DVD Ripping guide" I had no luck getting Adaptec to accept the file. Anyone know about the "NO KEY" error.
Thanks,
Dave

That means, that no keys were found! Can not decrypt.
Which version of smartripper did you use? Which mode? Did smartripper to start decrypt or not? Which key-check mode did you select? -

I used Version 2.36
Which mode?
I don't understand the question. I used "movie" under rip method.
Did smartripper start decrypt or not?
It started the ripping process, ran for about 10 minutes or so & then the message popped up.
Which key-check mode did you select?
I selected Every VOB-File just like in the help sample.

Let smartripper search for new keys more often. Go to settings> movie tab, change key-check to "every chapter". If that does not help, select "every vob-id". Please let me know, whether it worked or not.

Tried them both but no luck. -
If I would run into this trouble, I'd try at next the file mode and finally try a different decrypter. vStrip is the first choice. Have also a look at this guide.
I remember, I have got this message once. Finally DVDDecrypter did it successfully. Generally one can say, every DVD, that is playable with a software dvd player is also decrypable. -
recordhead, I don't know if you have it, but if you can, try using Sector Extractor 1.2, I found that where every other ripper fails, this one never does! it's rather hard to get, but if you can't find it, i'm willing to email it to you.
