What is up with MR. King? First we have AI [Spielberg]which should have been LOI. This film seemed to probe the darkest regions of Mr. Spielberg troubled childhood.
Now for the love of God what to hell is up with Dreamcatcher. This could be best described as a rouge extraterrestrial hemroid with Irritable Bowel Syndrome meets a lonely dieing mentally challenged space freak and friends. Whats up with this crap? IMO Mr. Kings meds need to be revisited by his team of psychiatric consulted or they will have to share them and hand the hooch out at the door so we can all be in the zone, where ever to hell that is?????

Where have all the hero's gone?

I would not be so quick to judge Mr. King. Remember, we are looking at a Hollywood interpretation of his writing. It sort of reminds me of the time I saw the latest Hollywood rendition of the Wells' The Time Machine. It was as if the producers never even read the novel, but had it told to them by their teenage babysitter.

Point taken about the 10 year olds in charge of the business. I still think Mr. King along with others needs an intervention program, their work has gone down the toilet [no puns intended].
Our making excused for Hollywood crap has gone about far enough. All the go anywayer's [because it is Saturday] crowd need to send them a message in their pocket books. This is the only thing they understand. We make it and they will come crap has got to stop. When will the mindless sheep stop paying to be crapped on and force them to get back to making real entertainment. No matter who is to blame, crap is still crap.

Besides as long as he finished the Dark Tower/Gun Slinger series I'm happy.

although I agree that King's output has become hit-or-miss over the past several years, the only movie you can assign him blame for is Maximum Overdrive, since he directed it and wrote the screenplay.

have't seen Dreamcatcher, because a) although it's an okay book, it's not one of his better efforts, and b) every review I've seen says it stinks on ice. so I'm voting with my wallet...

(on a semi-related note, I'd love to see a special edition of Apt Pupil, with bonus footage from the aborted mid-80's version starring Ricky Schroeder and Max Von Sydow... )

  6. IMO Stephen King(AKA Richard Bachman) hasn't been the same since he was hit by that car.
I would rather read one his books than watch a butchered version on the silver screen, except Misery(Kathy Bates was awesome).
