  1. Hi - I'm having a strange problem I hope somebody can help with. Been using Pinnacle Studio 8.8.17 and for a few versions back - has it's issues at times but lately it's been good (for me). Till this oddball quirk.
I captured about 3 hours directly to MPG-2 using Pinnacle from a Sony DV camcorder via Firewire. I've done this before no problem. Edited in Pinnacle down to about 1 1/2 hours. Ready to generate my MPG-2 output. When I export to MPG-2, Studio ONLY renders my transitions - which I expected (why I captured MPG2 to begin with). Here's the wierd part.. when it's done, it dosn't include ANY other video OTHER than the transitions. That is, I end up with about a 10 minute video of JUST transitions!
The original capture files are fine - I can play them in Windows media player no problem. I can play the video off the time-line in studio no problem. I tried rendering to an AVI but don't have the room. I tried making a disk image directly from studio. It worked, but the output was the same. I made a new project with just the first 30 minutes or so and tried that - same thing. Only the transitions.
Donpablo, anybody, got any ideas what I could try? Anybody got a clue? I really dont' want to recapture if I don't have to.

  2. how many transitions do you have? can you take the redered transitions, bring them back into studio w/ your scenes & then redner that whole project? not the cleanest but may help avoid recapture? I assume you checked the pinnacle board?

  3. there's a lot (probably 40 or so - I prefer dissolves to cuts to show changes in time, so they can add up). I guess I could bring that video of just the transitions back in, slice it up, and piece the whole thing together, but if it wouldn't render the rest of the video the first time, what would make it render now?
I don't have a pinnacle board - except the firewire card. But thaks for the ideas!

  4. sounds like too many transitions to make it worth while cutting it up.

I don't know what would make it render properly the second time, only thinking that perhaps what was causing it not to render was a transition from a segment to render to anothet that doesn't need rendering.

only suggestion would be to check the pinnacle board. I had 8.5.21 and it seemed to work ok (many crashes, but I can use it for a few things, such as timed analog captures since I haven't paid yet for my scenalizer license, and the generated music works pretty well to export to vegas).

sorry I can't offer more help, but hopefully the pinnacle board has something for you.
