A Newbie question... I just started using Premier Pro with Encore DVD for authoring. I have about an hour of video that filled up 1/2 of a DVD using Ulead MovieFactory. However the same hour of video fills up an entire DVD with Encore.
Is it possible Encore uses a different way to transcode the AVI files in producing the DVD that yields better quality but at the cost of using more space?
I know nothing about MPEG formats, so any advice would be appreciated. I need to fit another 30 minutes of video on the DVD, but I don't want to sacrafice too much qualiity.
Thanks.

I'm betting that it's probably a combination of the program using a different bitrate when encoding and/or the audio is uncompressed PCM instead of AC3 or MP2

In Encore on the Project tab, look at all the files for your DVD. Right click on each video and audio file and you can select the transcoding options. Make sure all audio files are AC3 for the best space usage, and adjust the video bitrate for a good mix of size vs. quality. Check the Disc tab to see how much space your DVD will require. When you get it where you want it, right click the video file(s) and select Transcode now. You can then preview the file at that bitrate to see if it looks OK.
