  1. I got my first dvd+rw writer (cheapo Benq 400w) and burnt some of my first dvd's and am unhappy about the number of pixelations. My source is a dv file from a Canopus Raptor card and edited with Ulead 6.5 Mediastudio, encoded with either tmpge or ligos, or mainconcept and the file looks good on the computer but when burning to dvd+rw or DVD+r I get pixelations in the same spot and randomly also. I only see them when played on my Apex 1100w player. I even tried coping the dvd to another dvd+rw and wound up with more pixelations than the original dvd had. I'm almost wondering if it's an avi file problem (no dropped frames and have never had the problem writing back to tape with the Raptor setup). I use cheap Kyphermedia dvd+r 2.4 and TDK dvd+rw 2.4 media. I did buy some Maxell 4x dvd+r but haven't tried them yet. I read that the Maxell dvd's don't work good with the apex player though. Could it just be my player. I gave the dvd to a coworker and he's going to check it out on his dvd player tonight. Also didn't have perfect lip sync after 1 hr but the tmpge encode and authoring with the dvd plugin in Ulead worked a lot better than the mainconcept encoder.

  2. My coworkers Toshiba played the disc perfectly he claimed. I took it to wallmart and the only dvd player they had running was a combo Panasonic TV, VCR, DVD combo so I stuck it in there and it played it perfectly also but couldn't skip to the next chapter with the controls on the TV (didn't have a remote). It appears the problem is my apex 1100. I may try and get a Sony (only player at wallmart to claim to play dvd+r's).
