  1. Hello

I'm finished making my own family DVD, lots of homemovie's and photos etc...

Now I want to make a good cover for the case. Is there a free easy to use program that let you add images and text into a template or wizzard?

    Thanks

  2. I don't know of an "easy" way to make custom DVD covers. I use Paintshop Pro 7 to design mine and use Acoustica CD/DVD Label Maker to put my creation into a template they have within the program. To get the dimensions for the box I scanned a DVD cover into my computer and did my design using the same dimensions.

  9. Ebay.co.uk has them for £3.99 but I'm not sure if you will be able to buy them

    Meritline.com sells pre-cut covers. That's where I buy mine.

Wal-Mart sometimes has some, but they're slightly smaller. After I had created a Pagemaker template for the Meritline covers, I ran out of them and bough the Wal-Mart ones. They didn't work because they were smaller.

I've bought several packs at different times from Meritline with no problems.

  11. I'm using Photoshop 7, but any photo manipulation program will do.

Create a blank template by opening a new document.

Set the image size of the document to fit your chosen DVD case. 273mm x 183mm, but allow a bit extra for trimming.

Any images you use must be scanned/ printed at 300 dpi. This can be set in your manipulation program.

Use photo quality inkjet paper (glossy is best) to use as covers for the cheapest and best results. Don't waste your money on pre-cut labels.

This is a guide for DVD artwork and inserts printing. If doing your own artwork it is easy to use the NERO cover design just right clicks and add your pictures from you personal files. I do not like Ahead Software in general but this and their wave edit programs do work well. Just make sure you use the Data Becker (0435) A4 template and they will come out to a perfect fit on the super case.

If you have a newer copy of NERO I have posted the necessary files template files here.

That is where I first bought my CD covers. Now I design my DVD covers with Surething. It has a lot of backgrounds to choose from, and can also import images very easily.

  15. If you can get hold of a copy of 'Micrografx Windows Draw 6' (I got mine free with a bunch of avery labels)
Then try the template link below (Made by myself)....
Its Fully editable... prints nicely on an A4 Page... with all the relevant fold and cut guides in place.

Let me know if its been any good to you (Anyone)

And let me throw in one more tip: It may get to ba little pricey in the long run, but try printing on glossy or semi-glossy paper as well. It really brings out the best in the printers when set them up to print on this paper.
