  1. Here's my story:

I originally had just a TDK 52x cdrw in my system. Last night I bought a Pioneer a06 put it in my system as a slave drive to the TDK as a master. I immediately installed the Pioneer 106D firmware. Then I immediately burned 3 dvd's. After a few hours of playing I tried to put an Imation 48x cdr that I burned yesterday in one of the drives. It didn't read in either drive. So I tried about 5 different other brands of burned cd's I had laying around...nothing would read. Then I tried putting one of the dvd's I'd just burned in the a06...it read this. Then I tried putting the free copy of Ulead Tools/Nero cd in the a06...it read as well.

    So my problem is:

All of a sudden cdr's that used to read fine in my TDK 52x cdrw don't read anymore. Those cd's also won't read in my a06. The only thing being read right now is the dvd's I burned with the a06...by the a06...and it seems like most cd's not published by myself. (but cdr's I've created don't read in either).

I hope this isn't too confusing. I've tried changing the a06 to master and the TDK to slave, and vice versa...nothing. I don't know what to do? Would flashing the firmware on the a06 give me problems with the TDK? Can I 'unflash' the a06 or flash it with older firmware? The a06 is burning fine. Any help would be greatly appreciate, thanks in advance.

    My system:

    Windows 2000
    P4 2.53ghz
    1024mb ram
    TDK 52x veloCD writer
    Pioneer a06 dvd writer

  2. Anyone? It's been a week now and I still don't have a clue.

TDK CDR = burns cdrs fine, won't read anything.
Pioneer ao6 DVDR = burns dvds fine, reads dvds fine, reads some cd's, but won't read my cdr's.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Larm,
From what i have read, did you disconnect the TDK burner when you flashed the A06?, and did you then set the A06 to MASTER? I have just flashed my 106 and doing the above is recommended, especially not having any other drive "Daisy Chained" on the same channel.

Also have you tried just having the A06 connected, then tried various burns (CD's & DVD's)??.

From what i have read on the Pioneer site, you CAN'T "downgrade" the firmware once you have upgraded.

I've probably asked more questions than answered yours, hope you get something out of this. Good luck.
