  1. Alright, I know that Sizzle 0.5 is filled with bugs, but I was wondering if maybe what I was doing was screwing it up, not some internal error. I have many Grateful Dead mpegs that I want to put together on one DVD with menus and the such. The first mpeg I have worked great. It is about an hour of video from 1977 that I was able to use as "Title 1" and break into 6 chapters that worked fine when played in Apple's DVD Player.

The second thing I wanted to put on there was a series of 11 clips of video from the late 60s that I wanted to use as the second title. I used mpgtx to join together the 11 clips so I could import them into Sizzle as one file and then break into chapters. However, after I did all this and the played the finished product in thr Apple DVD Player, it doesn't let me fast forward the chapters, it only allows playing from the beginning. So then I decided to see what would happen if I imported just one of the 11 clips of film I had as the second title and break this into chapters, and this worked fine when I played it in the DVD player. I was able to skip and rewind chapters no problem. This led me to believe that the problem was with how I joined the files together. So...

I decided to use MPEG2 Works to join the files together, but once again, the file would not change chapters when played in the DVD Player.

ANy suggestions with the best way to go about putting a bunch of mpeg files into Sizzle as one title, and then creating chapters so it works alright when played in the DVD Player?

Thanks for helping a newbie Deadhead out.

as zerosix pointed out in another post, its sometimes a good idea to demux and then remux your large mpeg product of adding lots of small mpegs together.

it helps to correct any timecode errors, which may be the cause of your problem

give it a try, see what happens then...

  3. Many thanks Galactica for the timely response. So I started to do what you said (demux then remux). I used the MPEG2 Works to demux into two files: DeMuxed-0.m1v and DeMuxed-0.mp2

As I said earlier, I'm new at this, and I assume this is the right output. Now how do I remux these back into one file? I tried clicking "multiplex MPEG1" in MPEG2 Works, but then I just get a very long AppleScript error. Should I use another program, or is my file corrupted in some way. Once again, thanks for the help. I know this is probobly covered in another topic, but it's really hard to find something pertaining to your problem in layman terms on this board.

    Muchas gracias.

  4. Okay, after scrweing around after my last post, this is what I've done:

I used ffmpegX to demux my joined mpeg file. Then I used ffmpegX to remux the two files I got back as an MPEG-1, and what I get almost works. The problem is the resulting mpeg after I demux and remux is a little more than half the length of the original. The original is 58:30 long, but the resulting remuxed file is only 33:05 long. What's the deal with this?

Any help would be very much appreciated. All I want to do is make a DVD of some mpegs I have lying around my computer. Thanks.

Possibly the encoding settings have changed?
I know that when I take files that I have demuxed,
and then remux to MPEG-1 through QT Pro,
if I change the setting to BEST from Standard
(using the Export to Toast Video CD MPEG1 option)
then my file size will go up, because it muxes
the mpeg at a higher bitrate.

I guess what I'm saying is,
If your bitrates are off between source and final output,
then, yes your final file size will be diffrent than before.
