I have this problem: I''ve recorded from satellite a concert and I'd like to trasform it in a DVD. But the audio stream has very very little pieces of silence in various points. I'd like to remove them but I can't make it manually: they are too many. I tried to remove them with Cool Edit "Delete silence" function, but it doesn't work (maybe I put wrong settings or the silences are too short). Is there any other software that can help me?
Thanks in advance!

Is it a live concert? If so ,maybe the silence isn't silent!
Audacity has a noise removal function whereby you sample a second or so of the noise you want to remove and then it removes anything matching that sample from the whole file. It certainly works for removing hiss type noise from audio cassette to mp3 conversions.
Maybe worth a try. -
Thanks for the reply.
Yes, it's a live concert. But the silences I'm talking about are very very short (milliseconds), so the noise removal doesn't work. It seems an audio card's fault in the capture process.
Any other suggestion? -
Might be the card but more likely the broadcast you captured from (or was it another source - vhs dv etc?)
The problem with deleting your 'silent' bits is that whatever you do it will get audio out of sync with your video, but as I've no idea what you've captured it may not matter in your case
The only way I can think of deleting your 'silent' bits is to do it frame by frame (it's going to be dificult to find though) by editing in virtualdub. This would also keep the video/audio in sync.
Other than that............who knows? Maybe if it's just 'milliseconds' as you say could you not just live with it?
Maybe somebody else will come up with a better suggection?
