I'm trying to make a simple DVD with one video track and one subtitle track - about 60 mins, 400 subs, no menu. While trying to build DVD image, Encore freezes at "building menu" stage (BTW- what menu???). When I remove subs all is working fine. I need these subtitles so I can't remove them. Adobe support is useless, at least free one.
Someone spotted same problem, any suggestions how to make it work?

    thanks,
    Krzyhoo

Mine slows down to a crawl when I have a sub track. Have you given it a good 10-15 minutes to see if it's actually locked up and not just chewing on something?

  4. This is "normal" for Encore. After extensive use I have given up using Encore it is riddled with bugs. If you want to see the problems people are having go to the forums at adobe.com. I was banned from there for asking questions over and over again because I was not getting answers. Trust me, Encore is not worth using.

I picked up Encore with the Video Collection and I don't think it's a complete lost cause. I finally mastered a DVD with it yesterday and it worked wonderfully. I didn't have any subs in it, but there were motion menus, alternate tracks, and a few other things thrown in and it worked fine for me. I think if you use other Adobe software like AfterEffects, Photoshop, and Premiere you're going to want to use it. If you don't than it may not be worth the trouble some are having with it.

I'm gonna go master something with subs and see what this problem is everyone is talking about. Has anyone had subs work for them with Encore? If so what are your system specs? Maybe we can get some helpful bug reports to Adobe.

400 subs??? DVD spec allows only 32 subtitle tracks.

I think he means 400 instances of subpictures over the duration of the film, or 400 sets of keyframes.
