Dvd +rw

Hi I have erased two dvd+rw one with nero one with recordnow max from the drop down menu( erase rewiteable disk)
Now when i go to reburn them they ask me for blank disk.
Do i need to reformat them or some thing?
one disk is mitsubishi and one is ricoh and my drive is a ricoh5240a

This may seem obvious, but have you tried a COMPLETE format of the disks? Not just a quick one?

Yes i did .i just did a erase with dvd info and at 98% done it came up with a error so this maybe why ill try the other disk

Also, what has helped me in the pass, when I'd keep getting mysterious errors. I just used windex and a cotton cloth and cleaned the writable surface, wiping straight from the inside center straight to the outer rim. Then being careful not to touch it. It has worked. Otherwise I'd have to say the media is broke, try a different one.

That's all I can think of, sorry.

strange both disks when eraseing with dvdinfo get to 98% complete
done and come up with a backround error .immmmm strange when they only been used once

Update your firmware from 1.08 to 1.11 and do a full format again, it might help.

from forum.rpc Can some one point me to a newbie guide to update my firmware please

PS Be aware that that packet writing softwares, DLA can screw up DVD+RW (and bitsetting) big time. That might be your problem too.

Uninstalling DLA,... solve these problems instantly

What software do u use to burn your dvd+r?
ive used nero but my stand alone dvd not like it.\

If you burn with Nero DVD-Video template always use these settings!!!

If you use other software than Nero, its very important that you set all booktypes to DVD-ROM with DVDInfoPRO before burning.

cheers what version of nero are u using?
ive download a hacked firmware flash utility so are the different versions up for download the source files?

I use Nero5.5.10.50 but also RecordNow and DVD Decrypter


The firmware and the Flash Program have to be in the same directory.

immmmm my file from richo is M72 1111.ric and does not work
i see yours has drive model etc where can i get that?? cant see it a ricoh
