I just got 50 more Princo from RIMA.
The first 500 or so 4x Princos I had were good. All bought 50 or 100 at a time. Worked flawlessly.![]()
This new pack sucks. I get random power calibration errors at 2x and 4x on both my 103 and 105 drives.![]()
![]()
A friend of mine got some 4x Princo last month, and his refuse to read in 103 drives. They only read in 104 and 105 drives.![]()
If this is how Princo wants to "improve" over time, this may be my last batch.![]()
I'll spend a little more for white inkjet DVD-R to get the same effect of non-silver plain tops.
I like Princo, and I'm not bashing them, but be aware fo the bad-batch effect I've seen and experienced recently. I'm not happy.
I'd actually like to see posts of RECENT and POSITIVE Princo 4x experiences, if any. I don't care to hear the typical "Princo sucks" audience chiming in.

Until this month, all Princo 4x have been great. I'm just trying to ascertain if other have noticed the same, or if maybe the store I'm using (RIMA) just has a bad batch.

@ deejay, as lordsmurf said..don't be a Dick....people have had issues with Ritek too...and there are some very intelligent people on this forum that will tell you they primarily use PRINCO in the THOUSANDS and have NEVER had a single issue. Those people could have 99.5% of their brain cut out and still be smarter then you...so keep using your Ritek..but don't be suprised when you find your own issues.
@ LordSmurf...I have used Princo 4x disks and believe it or not..haven't had any issues myself...however, i'm skeptikal of the disks from what i've read..and even though there are people who have rarely had issues with Princo...there are also others who have had nothing but trouble. The problem with Princo is that they are continuously changing their dye type and formula's of their disks. I personally wouldn't rely on Princo....and with all the inexpensive media out there now..fortunately..I don't have to.
I'd just tell you to request a refund from the site you purchased them from...at least for whatever disks you have remaining. Ask for an RMA...get an exchange for another..more reputable brand..and shell out the difference....but the reason you're now experiencing issues...is because it's almost certain the production of your last batch of Princo disks is completely different from prior batches...even if the write strategies are the same. -
I've had only minor problems with Princo...of course I only burn at 1x anyway. Why take the risk, DVD's aint cheap enough yet to make coasters. So for what it's worth I think Princo's are fine as long as you're willing to burn at 1x.

I had problems with Princo disks on my Sony DRU500AX. Kept getting Queing failed errors with them. Tried Discwrite disks and got the same error. The sony drive recognised them as Princos. I have been using Ritek disks for a few weeks now without any problems. I think some of the media problems that occur depend on the drive being used to write them.

Hey deejay.2001
Your inexperience is showing, TURN OFF THE CAPS
As for the disks, sorry I haven't used em.
Only thing I've been burning so far are leda/princo from shop4tech
and those are 1x, at least on my burner.
Burned 4 of those I just got a week ago with no problems though.
I'll be buying 4x ritek printables soon most likely from rima, so if you rma those bad ones let us know what happens. I'd like to know how they take care of it, just in case!
I have a toshiba sd-r5002 burner now, so the 4x I plan to buy I'll be writing at 2x only for awhile, till I get a new burner.
