  1. I received 200 Ritek G03's (silver top/purple dye layer) from supermediastore during the Labor Day sale. I tried burning 4 via TDK indiDVD 440N + Nero Express - received "illegal media" errors.
Put in TDK 4x +R, and tried Ridata 1x -R and had no problems.

Anyone else that bought Riteks from them about the same time as I did (beginning of September) having any problems?

I just burned the media via Roxio DVD/CD creator Plat. v6xx w/ no problems.

Tried Nero 6Ultra - still bad burns.

  2. Oh Oh, I just bought 200 yesterday with their 10% off coupon. It came out to .857 cents each. I does look like they're loading them out fast with that price. I wonder if they are all from a bad batch? I will let you know once I get mine.

  3. OK,

So I never got it to burn w/ any nero product - but at least the latest Roxio still works.

Supermediastore said they'd take it back for an exchange w/out a restocking fee (good business practice, I'd have to say).

    Let me know your results.

BTW, what type of burner do you have?

  4. I have a Pioneer A05 and use Recordnow Max 4.5 and have used Nero once in a while. They worked fine in the past at 2x speed with a firmware upgrade. Hopefully, this batch will work fine. I will let you know.

p.s. you should consider using Stomp Recordnow Max 4.5. I did the research and it's supposidly the best out there for backing up movies and data. Good luck

  5. Don't go dissing NERO just because it won't work for you...

NERO is the best... If you don't have beyond 5.5.10.42 or above... Then you need to update.

RecordNowMAX is good for other things like games.

  6. Ahh yes, a "the best" debate - well, as I previously stated, I do have the latest Nero.

I've had no probs "backing up" w/ the latest Roxio.

I also have the latest firmware.

I guess it just matters what mix of burner-firmware-media you happen to have.

Anyways, please let us know about your experience with their Riteks.

I saw a special at Meritlline at the moment - may go for it.

for games ? what are you talking about ?

prassi - what record now max was built from , is prob. found in more duplication houses (that do dvd-r duplication) than any other burning app ..

nero is good also -- but it doesnt work with robotic duplicators ..

  9. UPDATE:

I received my disks today. The came in a spindle of 50 x4= 200. They say RIDATA on the hub and the plastic wrap also said RIDATA. I noticed that they don't have a mirror finish like my original Riteks (it's more of a matted finish) and that they are not easily smeared as my orginal GO3s. They look like Riteks and I have burned 3 discs successfully. These appear to be the real deal and in fact look a little better. Rumor has it that they are trying to clear these away because there is a stamp on the hub that says RIDATA and most people who put labels on the dvd-r don't like that. I don't mind because I use hub labels and it covers it, and I like the new matted finish look vs. the mirror because they don't smear as much. I'm glad the prices are back down. You cant go wrong with these. Good luck

  10. Is the data label sandwiched between 2 pieces of plastic on the Ritek's or is the label just glued onto one side like a cd?
