I am wanting to find out, are you able to copy dvds such as say Titanic or another movie that is really long eg 3hours and more on one DVD-R? If so is there any trick to it like putting a setting in a program like long play would be on a video tape?

*sigh* - I think this is the first time this question has been asked -- TODAY
"long-play" - as specified by makers of DVD standalone units is simply recording at a lower bitrate.
Use DVDShrink - https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=155#comments
or TMPGEnc to De-Mux then a bitrate calculator to calculate volume/bitrate then reencode the video .

YOu can either split it to 2 discs or you can compress it down to fit on 1 disc. there are many programs for doing this. Look in the tools section for more info on the programs.

There is no "trick" to it.
Personally, I think the video quality starts to break once you cross the 55% mark.
I decrypt the disk to the hard drive and veiw with DVDShrink.
If the main movie will fall below the 55% figure I re-encodewith IC 7. If the main movie stays above 55%, I use a transcoder...DVDShrink, DVD2One, CloneDVD, DVDXCopy all of which give excellent results.
Ofcourse these are my personal preferences. Others would use higher or lower standards.Jim -

If you want to keep just the menu and the main movie then see this post.
