I am running Win 2000 with SP4
I can not run VCD 2.0 movies on my system (Using WMP 9)
---Error message from WMP 9: "Error# C00D11CD"
---Error message from WMP 6.4.09.1125: "ClassFactory cannot supply requested class (Error=80040111)"
I have tried other player such as RVCDPlayer2, and I have installed FFdshow 2003, they did not work.
The VCD movies I have can play perfectly in stand alone DVD player.
The CD-Rs I burned from these VCD 2.0 movies using NERO 5 can not play on both my computer and stand alone DVD player.
How can I view the VCD 2.0 disks on my system and be able to burn a copy that can play on both my system and stand alone DVD players?
Thank You

You can play VCDs with WMP, for SVCD/CVD/DVD you need to have a MPEG2 codec installed. The problem is that VCDs use the *.DAT extension for the files, and windows uses that for something else. So you can NOT open the DAT file from WMP.
Instead put in your VCD, run windows explorer, go to the MPEGAV dir and right click the avseqxx.dat file. Then choose open with 'WMP' and it'll play fine.
Now if you wanted to take advantage of all the 'VCD features' then yes, you'll need a software DVD player that also supports VCDs. IIRC powerDVD and winDVD do this.
