Once a DVD has been authored, if I want to use the video down later for another production, should I save and use the MPEG2 file, or use the VOB file off the DVD for other productions?

They are both the same, but if you want to edit the video you would be better off keeping the mpeg, if you are just going to make copies keep the vob's
