Same question here I know dvd2avi does that real easy but the problem is that It doesn't support subtitles. What I really want to do is create sxvcd but with bbmpeg and flashmpeg the quality sux I've tryed with tmpgenc and its a lot better but What I did was to convert DVD to divx with flashmpeg and then convert the divx to sxvcd with tmpgenc and that makes to process take almost twice the time that it usually would and the process of encoding the dvd to divx makes it loose quality. Is there a way to framserv tmpenc with flashmpeg ?
Hey ! Let's be carefull out there :)

Frameserve with Avisynth from flask to TMPG: http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdtovcdflask.htm
If you create SVCD, you may want to encode in VBR mode. This is better done with dvd2avi->TMPG: http://www.vcdhelp.com/dvdripping.htm
    Subtitles: dvd2avi>Avisynth(vobsub)>TMPG

    Use vobsub as subtitle plugin.

  5. Ok, we're talking about two different things now.

    1) To rip a DVD to AVI is possible, just use DVD2AVI to generate the D2V (video) and wav (audio) files. Use the VFAPI codec to generate an aci file from the D2V file. Load the AVI and wav in VDub, add and desired filters and save.

This is generate a HUGE file! I mean like 8mb/s huge. That's why most people make DivX (MPEG4 compression) files instead.

    2) There are a lot of ways to rip a DVD -> x(S)VCD with subtitles. Some programs will (eg. Flask or DVD2SVCD) will do it for you. I've had more luck with VDub and the VobSub filter:

    http://www.flexion.org/video/DVDConv/DVD2AVI/index.html

This has never failed me. DVD2SVCD not all the subs show up (sometimes) and Flask doesn't have options for everything I want.

  7. There are faqs/guides to the left under "Convert" that tell you how to make DivX files (which is what I think you want to do).
