I have a DELL OEM (NEC) DVD writer, and am seriously considering buying DVDXCOPY - Platinum.
My main purpose is to do backup of my own DVD and also to copy parts(selective) of the DVD(eg. two minutes into chapter 3, for 1 minute) to be burned into a DVD.
I have search this site, but have not been very successful.
Have anyone tried this particular product (Platinum) and /or any other suggestion of another product that l could buy?
Anything that l should watch out for?
Thanks very much

I don't believe there's an option to copy selective parts, as you described, of a DVD in DVDXCopy. There is an option to selectively backup certain titles on the DVD. I tried it a few weeks ago and it did not work well for me; apparently, others have also had problems:

I would suggest DVDShrink. In reauthor mode, you could do the edits you described and it's FREE. -
Ive never use DVDXcopy and nor will I ever which brings me to my point, you should really try DVD2one or DVDShrink first.Very quick and Ive had nothing but "great" results with both. In order to use DVD2one will need DVDdecrypter to rip the movie from the disc. Give it a try, it cant hurt.
Freeware rocks. Make sure u have the burning ware .I use Nero for my Sanyo360 & RecordNow for my Apex1200
