    Is there a new firmware update to improve the Eye TV codec for VCD or perhaps to add SVCD capability ?

    I know there is a new software version 1.3, but that does not change the encoding quality.

    Sorry, Im inclined to say no. Then again who knows. All i know is to get MPEG2 you usually need to buy one that specifically says MPEG2.
    Last time I saw a Eye Tv box i dont remember it saying mpeg2.
