I've never seen a 40 minute DVD
Yes it is possible
You can make them almost any length you want. However
as length goes up quality goes down. 6 hours looks terrible IMO
2 hours should be fine -
It would probably depend on the equipment what the quality will be, like better on a 15" TV lousy on a 60" maybe as to how much you can put on one DVD and still have decent or excellent quality?
I put a 3 hr DVD onto one disk and I cannot tell any quality difference.
If the kid puts the disk in the player, I truely don't know if it is my disk or a pressed disk!
I used DVDshrink 3 beta 5 to ripp the original and resize to fit one disk.
As for as how to put 3 DVDs on one disk, I have not tried it. Look in the guides section to the left, there might be one for combing DVDS I don't know? -
The max on a DVDR depends on the bitrate you use when encoding the vieo to MPEG2. You can get anywhere between 0 and 6 hours or more on a DVDR in MPEG2 with MPEG Layer 2 audio or AC3. The lower the bitrate, the worse the quality.
It sounds like you have 3 already authored DVDs you want to combine. There are several guides here on this site that show you how to do this. probably te easiest way would be to get the newest version of DVDShrink and have it rip and compress the existing videos to fit on new DVDR. If you're talking about only doing the 120min total, then the qualkity should come out good if not exact as the original DVD.
Your other otpion would be to rip the VOBs to your hard drive and re-author them into a new DVD, so you can add menus and such or customize it however you like. You might still need to use DVDShrink if the size of the finished DVD is still bigger than 4.7GB. -
marckos, I would also suggest you try DVD Shrink v3.0 beta 5.
Check the two beta 5 guides on the following page:
http://www.dvdshrink.info/guides.php -
You could also check out the latest version of Dvd2One (1.3).
The join function will allow you to join movies together on one dvdr also, plus there is an extra feature for navigation between movies, using the buttons on the Remote Control of your standalone.
It's not as good as a fully authored DVD, with menus, but it's very simple and fast.
