    Ok, for AGES I have been using Nero 5x to burn MPGs to VCDs - now, all of a sudden (like overnight!), Nero will no longer recognize that 80min CDs can hold a 79min MPG. It works fine if I overburn an 85min MPG on a 90min CD, or if I burn a 45min MPG on an 80min CD (even the same 80min CD that Nero didn't like for the 79min MPG).

    This, IMHO, is really wierd.

    I think it's the software, because it affects BOTH my burners - and one is brand new (New is Samsung SW-252B latest firmware, and older one is Samsung SD-308B latest firmware).

    Anyone have any alternate proggies? I don't want to have to do MPG>BIN conversions and I don't like Roxio.

    Anyone have any ideas why this might have happened?

  2. VCDEasy will create the bin, burn the bin, and then delete the bin in one click.
    Ejoc's CVD Page:
    DVDDecrypter -> DVD2AVI -> Vobsub -> AVISynth -> TMPGEnc -> VCDEasy

    DVD:
    DVDShrink -> RecordNow DX

    Capture:
    VirualDub -> AVISynth -> QuEnc -> ffmpeggui -> TMPGEnc DVD Author

    Ok, looks like the prob was something to do with Nero. I uninstalled it, deleted the reg keys, and installed the bundled version that came with the 252 (5.5.10.5 bundled), and now it's working fine again.

    Go figure.

    And I REALLY don't like VCD Easy.

    I'd still like to know if there are any alternates to Nero/Roxio.

  4. It could be that something else that was installed after Nero cocked up it's registry keys or overlayed it's DLLs.

  5. NTI CD&DVD-Maker 6.5 can burn (X)VCD,SVCD and overburn to 99min.I bought CD Maker 2000 ver.5.5 for $23USD earlier this year,it was on clearance.The GUI looks like it was designed by Disney but i've never burned a coaster with it.
