Can anybody help me understand why when I'm converting my DV/AVI files to SVCD using every software possible, it still doesn't look like the original movie (for example, objects movements look a little like "slow motion" movements).
I would appreciate it if someone help me figure this out!

the quickest answer to you question is that DV/AVI uses compression (I am not talking about divx or xvid which uses ALOT of compression). and when converting, you lose quality. That's just the way it is.
Now if that answer does not do it for you, please give me some more details.
To save you that time, try dvd2svcd and see if they doesnt "fix" your problem. -
Sounds like interlacing or field order. Where did you get your AVIs ?
Are you watching on the computer or the TV ?
