SERIOUS PROBLEM, PEOPLE!!

ok, when purchased my comp, it came automatically with adaptec easy cd creator 4.0 (not deluxe). it soon came apparent to me that i couldn't make vcd's with this prog. so i used the Morpheus File-Sharing Network and downloaded a copy of adaptec easy cd creator 5.0 deluxe in order to make vcd's.

This is when the sky started to fall...

ok, well after i installed it and restarted my comp, there were problems with the new version of the program (now to be referred to as AECDC5) trying to load drivers that weren't running, or sumthin like that. I had to battle the blue screen of death numerous times, but i finally got it under control. well, it soon became apparent that this AECDC5 prog was a piece of crap that didn't work, so i uninstalled it. It couldn't make music cd's or vcd's. now, because of this program, my older version of the burner (4.0) wasn't opening the music CD creation prog, which is what i need at the moment. anywayz, so i uninstalled it, and all of a sudden, my old version (4.0), won't work either!! it won't even boot up, every time i try it says- "creatr32 has caused an error in creatr32.exe".

ive tried restarting, and that didn't work. when i try to open up my cd copier, it says "cannot find adaptec easy cd creator" and then after you click OK "cd copier cannot find a CD ROM drive that supports burning (or sumthin like that), you will not be able to copy CD's" what should i do?? HEEEEELPP, i need my burning prog, no matter how sucky it is. it worked fine b4 the whole ordeal, so can someone tell me how to make it as it was b4????

PS: also, can some1 tell me of a good prog that can burn vcd's (or svcds, whatever) that WILL NOT F*CK UP MY COMP?!!! i have a HP cd-writer 12 cd-rw drive.

Well, first off I wouldn't recommend EZ-CD Creator - ANY version. That's just cuz of my past bad experiences. I would make sure all veriosn are uninstalled, and then get a program called Easy Cleaner, which will clean all invalid registry entries out of your comp - so there is NO trace of ECDC. This can be found here:

Then get NERO - it's simply the best for VCD,SVCD, and works great for all other types of disc too.
Read the how-to's and stuff on this site, cuz this site has rocked since day 1.

ino adaptec sux, but ok, well my mom and dad are the ones who bought the comp. and you know how computer illiterate ppl are, they don't wanna change anything. i inquired about nero, but they refused. so does any1 know how to simply FIX my adaptec easy cd creator 4.0

Totaly clean off your old burning program through the registery and then try and load it again

hit F3 on ur desktop and search for adaptec in ur C drive. locate the adaptec uninstall file and get rid of adaptec. then get nero.

dood, i just said that the real owners of this comp, my parents, want adaptec! i want nero, also, but some1 told me that if you have them both on your comp, neither will work!

Installed Morpheous (without permission) and filed shared and installed to version 5 deluxe but can't install Nero? Sounds like the parents are doing the typing. Are there any kids?

hee hee, that stung. adaptec 5 and 4 have almost the exact same interface. thats why they didnt care bout it. plus, i just told them it was a free update

Give it a try....but stop the 50's 60's 70's 80's and 90's speak....EZCD Creator has problems but looking at your original post - have you tried reinstalling your original version 4. There's no reason why that should not work.

jeepers (hehehaha) - there shouldn't be any problems with multiple burning programs, as long as one of them isn't the dreaded ADAPTEC DIRECT CD - ZOWEE!! (heheh) And as far as interface goes - NERO (as far as I can remember) is just like Adaptec! It's not like Mom & Pop would have to learna whole new program! Golly! It's even easier to use than Adaptec for VCDs!

All kidding aside....Mole makes a great point....without uninstalling DirectCD you're stuck....wake up the parents and get permission. You should be OK. If you don't get permission then stop. You don't want to get in trouble

adaptec 5 already uninstalled direct cd to put in a new one (that didn't work), therefore, i don't have any direct cd on my comp. also, i don't have a cd with adaptec, it was already installed on my comp when we got it.

Hey Flash, Nero can't be installed on the same system as Easy CD 4 because of a well known conflict in Adapetic Direct CD which is part of the Easy 4 CD package. Once you get your system back up visit the Roxio site below to get an upgrade. It may be free depending on how old your system is.

I'll assume you already found out you can't burn CD's on the standard version. Be advised that early versions of 5 of Easy CD has a serious bug if you have Windows 2000, so be sure you download the latest version and/or the patch or you can corrupt your entire system. Was lots of talk about it in the Roxio forum some months back.

You can have both Easy CD 5 and Nero 5 on one system in a single partition. I do and they work fine together and no static from Adapetic CD either.

well the reason i think it wasn't working (adpatec 5.0) is cuz i got it off f a file sharing prog, so it either had a virus or was a bad rip from a cd. i have windows ME, so i don't think it could corrupt my comp. will nero cause any interference with adaptec 4.0 normal version (not deluxe)???

Hey, adaptec 5 works just fine. So much for blaming the company and the program when a little thot about where/how you got the program can explain alot! The program works excellent for me on different brands of burners no less! By the way, using Me for video work is not advisable. Several others besides myself have found this out and have posted the same results - not a workable OS!!! Try Win 2k or test out XP as I am. Much better at video, etc.
