    I have a pioneer 340 that will take 2500 bite rate max before jumping for svcds. Is there any reason to use vbr against 2500 cbr that I am using at the moment.

    only if you want to use less cds and a lower bitrate and longer encoding times. I prefer vbr since I prefer 2 cds rather than 3. Otherwise I'd use CBR
