  1. I liked using DVD-Lab, so now I need to find a good capture software. I plan on using TMPEnc for encoding. I tried the AVI_IO, but it wouldn't recognize my capure hardware. Any suggestions?

Why don't you try listing your hardware, so people could help you better?
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........

  3. I put it in my computer profile area so I figured people could see it there. Anyway, it's a Canopus ADVC-100.

For future reference, a Firewire card is not a capture card. It couldn't capture video ever(it has no video or RF in doe sit?). It is an I/O card, like a USB or LAN adapter. What you do with it is capture the data stream output by the camera (which happens to contain video and audio).

    Rant off:

Try IUVcr. 30 day free trial, max resolution, any codec you have installed (AVI capture), good pre-filter selection, good tuner, and unattended recording. It's not as pretty looking and PowerVCR (mpeg only capture), and the unattended recording is pretty clunky.

  7. Take a look at Amcap. It works well with my ADVC-100 under WinXP.
Best of all, it's free and you can get source code with the DirectX framework if you want to modify it.
Just what is this reality thing anyway?

I'm assuming you're talking about the canopus advc1394.

that's not just a firewire card. It also has all the hardware of the advc100 onboard.
