i can't seem to find the right terms to search in google.

The Gracenote CDDB service is meant for retail discs. Your request is not possible.
Your best bet is embedding cd text in the burned disc (option in Nero and other softwares) and playing the discs in a software player that supports CD Text reading, such as this one:
Digital CD Player
http://homepage2.nifty.com/~maid/fsw/dcdp_r107.zip
The benefit of that would be that the cd text is read by the software and displayed, and if you play it on a cd-text capable standalone cd player, it will also display it (obviously).
Hope this information proves useful to you

thanks for your reply.
i'm just wondering why the same information that is found in retail cds is not possible to be burnt into a new cd. i mean surely it is just a simple cd id that is read the same way as retail cds, right? -
What player are you using
cant you just enter the CD information into the player that you use.
if you wanted to get the cd info from cddb for a custom made cd that you made you would have to upload that info to cddb i wouldve thought.
i think you can keep your own database on yuour PC of your custom made CD's
