    i recently had to reformat my pc and reinstalled smartipper i wanted to know what is the best settins to rip the files to a video_ts folder before it used to rip like 5 to 8x speed not the fastes it goes is 2x can someone help me any help is appreciated i did a search for smartipper settings but nothing came up also everytime i load up smartipper it says no aspi found on the website they have a couple of versions to download which would be best my pc is xp and i have a sony dru and i usually burn with copy to dvd

    Hi zzNyQuilzz!
    Firstly, I would check to make sure that DMA is enabled on your DVD-ROM drive and your harddrive. To do this under XP, right click on My Computer>Properties>Hardware>Device Manager and check the Advanced tab under Properties of your DVD-ROM drive and IDE controllers. Select "DMA if available" and then click OK.

    Now test to see if you see an improvement in ripping speed. If you don't, then check out the Tools section of this site and download the ASPI layer. I tend to use the latest version available.
