  1. What usually causes pixelation towards the end of a DVD?
    My process
    rip with smartripper
    transcode with dvd2one
    burn with recordnow
    Verbatim DVD-R DatalifePlus (CMC's I think)

I spent the money thinking these were the best by feedback. The quality was great, but towards the end of the movie it started pixelating and stuttering. Is this a media problem or me doing something wrong?

  2. i'm surprised to say it.. but i think its the media.. i've seen this happen countless time, and almost every time its the media.. i burned a few movies to memorex 2 dvd-r's, that would either freeze, produce massive macroblocks, and/or stutter.. i then copied those memorex to verbatim's and they played perfectly.. same thing with ps2 games.. someone wouldnt load or would load very slowly..

i noticed you said verbatim "CMC's".. what are CMC's?

One of the worst media brands available.

I thought it was the media in my case but I discovered if
I wipe my greasy fingerprints off the outside edge they
    start playing fine.

  6. That won't help if it's a media problem, of course.

Or hacked firmware buggering things up.

  7. I think I heard somewhere that the most outer edge rings of a dvd sometimes develop errors.

  8. second DVD full backup (movie)
Same media (verbatim DVD-R (aka CMC))
This time it was a #5 and not a #9
Took awhile even thought I only reduced the backup by about 400mb
    Backed up fine though.

Seems my comp and my stand alone panasonic SA-HT75 likes this combo

    What did y'all say....don't fix what's broken?

I'll go with IC for awhile

  9. i still think it's your media.. because you burned a full disc & your problems were at the end.. now you're burning less than 4gb..

stiltman beware CMC media, they do make a good disc "SOMTIMES" but its not worth the risk. I have a bunch of CMC disc at home I bought on a whim and they stay around as test disc because I know they are not good if you get anywhere near full with them.

I use Arita's (ritek) and always burn within 5-20 mb of the limit and have never had a problem with the end of the disc so it pays to get a good disc.

Ya I know better , but these were on sale at Office Depot last week
The +Rs seem about the same in quality even though they're 4xRICOHJPN
Another reason I went with another program was because when I did a backup with DVD2one and tried to play it on the comp, it would crash everytime. Like I said, I don't know if it's the media or my settings in dvd2one.
